Can I do this without Body Paint?

Is there a way to recreate this type of material (specifically the cracks/displacement) WITHOUT using bodypaint?



I've recreated the glossy chrome look, but the displacement is proving difficult or impossible. I'm worried the only way is to use bodypaint, which I'm trying to avoid since the client likes to change text, fonts, style, you-name-it constantly.

Any help, or even a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
