It isn't really!! Perhaps when you start using plugins like TurbulenceFD, or if you have a large number of Undo states.
In terms of memory for the 3D and stuff, C4D actually uses the GPU. So the larger the size on the card, the more you can have in a scene, of course there's other factors like whether its a workstation card or a gaming card... so ya...
