Well, if your QuickTime-Movie was exported with an Alpha-Channel...
e.g. “Animation or PNG” with “Millions of Colours +”...

In the Material Editor / Basic / check the Alpha box /
In the Colour-Channel under Texture open that white little Triangle and “Copy Channel” /
Select the Alpha-Tab and open that little Triangle again “Paste Channel” /
In the Editor-Tab check “Animate Preview” /
Play your animation.

Regarding your image sequence, you might not create an empty space before the number.
(but, I am not sure if that will make a difference...?)
