Ambient Occlusion extremely slow
by Bert Brown on Jan 5, 2009 at 4:53:08 pm

I recently changed computers at work and have found that my old C4D projects now take a lot longer to render with Ambient Occlusion.

I know nothing of the internal settings of C4D, is there a place to fiddle with settings of Amb Occ besides the "render settings" ? Could this be something outside the program itself?

I should note there is also Nucleo Pro installed on this computer.

The new computer I am on is a quad 2.5 ghz powerpc G5, 5 GB DDR2 SDRAM. It is supposed to be much better than the G4 i was using.

But i am getting like 7 min Amb Occ render times with even just a cube over a plane, where as it maybe used to take less than a minute.

I also can't seem to save my preferences in C4D, but that's a whole other bee's nest.
