Mograph failing in picture viewer

Hello everyone. I have a pretty heavy animation with a lot of clones and a spring effector. When I hit play in the viewport everything displays correctly (although very slow). When I render the animation to the picture viewer all the frames contain nothing.
The animation is set so that all the clones have a scale of "0" given by a step effector with falloff which gradually is moved away and the clones "grow". When I disable the step effector the clones can be seen in the picture viewer, but by enabling it nothing happens, as if it didn't move and the clones kept under it's influence.
Thanks in advance for your help
Alejandro
