Outputting the final product

G'day world,
I've just recently picked up C4D and and I'm utterly confused about output. I'm making a short film, completely animated in C4D. I've created all my shots and I want to export each one so I can start editing them together in Final Cut Pro.
How in the hell do I do this? What are my options for going from Cinema 4D to Final Cut Pro? What's the process? What are the file types? The only thing I've been able to obtain so far is the crappy .mov/.avi files 'Make Preveiw' churns out.
Thanks in advance for entertaining this fairly basic enquiry,
Confused Beginner.
