Re: A meeting reminder. Thursday October 15 at Ozzie's

I work for a video game developer in town as a video editor. During heavy crunch times, my work load has been increasingly overwhelming, so I'm looking to connect with local individuals and build a pool of talent who may be available in the future for contract work. Unfortunately, I've just wrapped up a summer of crunch, so I don't have an immediate need, and I don't know when I next will. But if you'd like to connect, I'll be at the meet. Here's what I'm looking for:

1. Final Cut Pro: A demonstrated talent for the art of the short-form edit. A thorough understanding of efficient workflows, and an intimate knowledge of how to retain consistency of gamma, aspect ratios, pulldowns, et. al.

2. After Effects: A good eye for composition and design in motion graphics. Animator approach to timing of keys and taming of f-curves. Comfortable with 3D multi-plane workflows.

3. Camera Operator: I'm currently using an HVX200 and I may have need for other operators for multi-cam shoots, or to fill in for me if I'm out of the office. Some work would be run-and-gun field work, some would be studio/green screen.

At this point, I'd be looking for individuals with a good amount of professional experience under their belt, who have hardware that's up to the task at hand for quality and timely content creation and rendering, and who can help out in a pinch. There may be the possibility of doing work onsite using company hardware and software. Cameras would need to be HVX200 quality or higher, with the operator comfortable with shooting in a knee-less cinelike gamma, preferably in shutter angles and utilizing variable frame rates if the job calls for it. Current studio lighting is a set of 3 Biax 8s; MicroBeam 128 LED on-camera.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that I don't have anything lined up now or in the near future; right now I'm looking to connect with local contractors who would like to be added to the pool for consideration in the not so near future. I will be there tomorrow wearing a t-shirt with a sketched character on the front, if you'd like to interface and trade cards.
