FCP question from Samantha
by Ray Palmer on Sep 3, 2009 at 3:32:23 pm

I've had a bizarre FCP error pop up on me that I can't seem to figure out. I have an .avi clip of a lower-third that spontaneously required rendering after I made my top track invisible (which only contained text clips that say "Preview Copy." Attempting to render results in a "Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card" error. The file hadn't changed at all since I began the project, and it has rendered fine until now. I even tried re-rendering it out of After Effects and replacing the file, but that didn't seem to do anything. Any thoughts on what could be causing this error? It won't even let me export a QT file and gives me the same error, so I'm stuck until this clip cooperates.
