Ray PalmerHow was your drive home after the Mayo Clinic event?

After the last meeting at the Mayo Clinic, Scott Anderson and I drove back to Phoenix in what I know to be the worst storm that I have seen.
We hit rain going south on the 101 and the storm never let up. We got off the 202 around Priest and drove down Washington Street towards my office. The road was flooded with an estimated foot of water. Building materials were in the road along with large trash bins.
We ran into trouble about a mile from my office. All of the power (APS) was out. We noticed a few man hole covers that were upside down and about a foot from their respective holes. When I realized that that was what I was seeing, we dropped into one of the open man holes at 30 mph and blew out the right rear tire and bent the rim. This was during the height of the storm. Luckily we were in a front wheel drive sedan and the front tires were OK. We limped the last mile on the bad tire and got back to the office. I spent the next three hours putting buckets under a leaking roof in my building.

How was your trip home?
