File re-linking in Logic Pro 8
by David Burch on Sep 22, 2009 at 10:00:05 pm

I couldn't find anything about this on the forums, so I figured I'd post a new thread to see if anybody can help. I am working with a multitrack project, going from Final Cut Pro to Logic via XML. My project is a dance recital with two halves, six tracks each (3 stereo pairs for board feed, ambience, and stage mics). My files are arranged in two folders, one for each half. Each folder houses the six audio files, but within the folders the files are named identically (track L, track R, Amb L, Amb R, pcc L, pcc R).

My problem is that I created the XML file on one computer, transferred the project to another computer, and re-linked the files to the internal raid on my second computer. Instead of linking the files according to their full path, Logic assumed that my 1st half and 2nd half files were one and the same. Therefore, the second half is all wrong, as the audio is actually from the first half. Is there any way to re-link the files once they've been imported, or do I need to start over by re-naming the files in Final Cut Pro and re-creating my XML files?

I am currently half-way through the project, so hopefully there is a way to re-link the files without having to start over from scratch. Thanks!
