OMF import - even bigger problems in L9
by Adam Howard on Sep 15, 2009 at 6:53:11 pm

Logic has never been able to import OMF's completely ie - with all fade, level and pan information.

I heard that L9 would solve all this and make it a Pro Tools competitor (for final mix at least).

With the new L9, when deleting a "bad take" audio region, Logic hangs for about 10 secs. Also when browsing the apple loops library.

I trashed prefs, and did the sbin/fsck -fy thing in single user mode etc etc. Tried starting from a new song made in 9...

I realised that not all songs had this problem.

Basically, every week I final mix a 30 min TV show. I get an OMF and quicktime from the editor. I have tried using the movie in other projects - no problem.

When I import the OMF - this is when the problems start. The OMF files I get are always over 500MB.

I have tried other OMF's. The smaller ones seem to be OK (I tested a few from 20 MB to 105 MB's) No problems.

I tried a 200MB file, and the hangs start again. Looks like the size of OMF is the problem.

THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN LOGIC 9.

Any ideas? This OMF mess is sending me crazy. Pro Tools here I come......
