Routing signal

Hey all....
If i desire to record a track with the plugins burnt to disk, what is the routing procedure in Logic.
I tried the following...
Created an audio track... added plug... set the input, and then sent the output to bus 33.
then created a second track and set the input to bus 33 and the out to 1 and 2.
I got signal on the first track and plug but nothing coming through the routed ( bus 33 ) track. It had nothing, no signal, if i muted it i still heard the input. even though technically the audio should have been running through that channel before heading to the outputs.
Any help???
Best of Everything!....steven
