Using HD Connect MI as general purpose HDMI>HDSDI

I have an HD Connect MI and normally feed it HDMI from my M25U Deck, however I want to ask about using it with a different source of HDMI.
I have a project coming up for which I need to capture PC display output to a DVCProHD deck. I plan on getting a HD scan converter that will take the PC display output and scale it, or pad with black, and convert it to 1080p @30 HDMI. My question is about using the MI to convert the output of the scan converter to HDSDI for input to the deck.
The scan converter's typical use is to feed a monitor, but so is the HDMI output of the M25U deck which the MI is made to work with. Does anyone know of a reason that the MI would not work with 1080p HDMI source like this?
