nano flash & DSLr's

Hi, it's interesting DSLR's really now starting to incorporate video recording (like the Nikon D90 etc), I wondered if the combo of say the newly announced Canon D50 with HDMI output and say the Nano flash could/might work.
Could I record the still camera's Live View via the hdmi and get great quality? I could capture the audio straight to the Nano Flash. I figure the DSLr's onboard recording would be compressed lots so that's why the Convergent Design stuff would be ideal and switchable, even between still/video cameras.
This combo would be a great way to use all those still lenses and get shallow DOF etc..
Is this new "convergent" reality?
Evo
Cheers!
