Hi Max,
Could you try the following? It will give us more information.
Switch the unit to standalone mode (setup -> application -> stand-alone) (the 1394 is not active in this mode). Change to unidirectional mode (setup -> direction -> unidirectional). Change the input settings to match your input video (input settings -> video src -> CVBS). Now attach a monitor to the output of the SD-Connect and let me know if the video is stable.
