Re: Can the nanoConnect help me.

Is there anyway to connect to this with the Nano Connect?

No, not that I am aware of. Remember you purchased a cute little camera that a shoe box could ship 4 of. You didn't purchase a professional camera and the Nano Connect is designed for use with a Desktop housing a professional HD-SDI capture card. Please.......... don't get discouraged but you have only scratched the HD surface, and the AVCHD codec is still unknown to most ELD's. If some do work with it they transcode to another codec.

Also, will this work with footage already recorded, or will I need to record directly to disc?

Not sure you can back this up yet in the native format files. I would try an SD DVD or CD to back up and see what happens.

Working with a MBP laptop still leaves out many professional solutions like the Nano Connect. Search for AVCHD advice here at the cow and on your favorite search engine and see how others are dealing with this codec.

BTW the Convergent Design product line is worth the money.

Good Luck
Michael Palmer
