Does the HD Connect solve the JVC timecode break problem?
by Justin Ferar on Nov 20, 2006 at 3:07:59 am

We're about to purchase 2 JVC HD200s plus the JVC deck.

I've been reading about all the problems with timecode breaks while digitizing. It appears to happen with all video cards ie. Black Magic, Kona, etc. and straight HDV over firewire.

My question is will the HD connect product solve this?

I was planning on converting the firewire signal to HD-SDI with the HD-Connect box. Digitizing would be into a Kona LH as DVC Pro HD.

I need digitize the whole tape without TC breaks.

System is Mac dual 2.7 with latest Final Cut Pro.

Anybody?

If this does not solve the problem then I guess an alternative is to shoot on Focus Enhancement hard drives built for the cameras, and then convert the M2T files to DVC Pro HD using Apples Compressor. I'm just not ready to gove up tape yet!
