A Few HD Connect Questions
by

Just finished an eval of the Miranda HD-Bridge DEC+ and had hoped a few features would be a bit more developed. Curious about the HD-Connect LE (and someday after your semi-conductor woes are taken care of, the big HD Connect).
Our scenarios:
1) We get a lot of Final Cut HDV material from the marketing department that it supposed to be output directly to HDCAM SR. We've found that "Print to Tape" is the only way to go through the Bridge, I would assume this is the same with the HD Connect LE because of the limitations of the HDV format. (No inserts or edits to tape, right?) Therefore, there would be no pass-through of the timeline's timecode, correct? Or is there some secret way that you guys have engineered a workaround for this? I would also guess that because of this, there's no way to use the RS-422 control with an FCP system for output (capture, I understand, probably not a problem). What we did before was output to a submaster (rolled the deck, then rolled the FCP system on wild code), then did an HDCAM SR tape-to-tape. Losing this step would be most welcome.
2) We have an Avid Symphony Nitris that may be ingesting some material straight from HDV (not elegant, but mostly a time factor). Will the HD Connect LE work with Symphony Nitris? (Miranda advertised that it worked with Nitris, but when we got the box, it turned out it was only DS Nitris, not Symphony -- no help to us). Where does HD Connect stand with the Symphony Nitris?
3) Any chance that this box allows one to control an HDV deck precisely enough to allow a tape-to-tape edit using an HDCAM SR as the controller? We tried it before, but it seemed like the HDV was too prosumerishly loosey-goosey to servo lock during the preroll. I would guess it's yet again the HDV format, but would love confirmation.
Thanks for being on the boards.
