The problem with defrag in the past has always been the free space optimization. While that still is not a part of the snfsdefrag command at this time, that may not always be the case. There is no doubt that this is something Quantum is aware of, and anything done on the StorNext side trickles down to Xsan at some point anyway. I certainly can't speak for any of these companies, but considering it has been an issue in this industry for so long, and SANs are now getting to hundreds of terabytes without a problem... the ability to defrag is certainly standing out.
