I have to say we've seen similar weird behavior with Premier. The problem we've seen seems to follow specific media files, but those same files can be moved to other editing packages and they work fine.
We've been doing some beta testing with customers against ST RAID II and Titanium and the general answer from the Premier guys has been "delete the cached versions and try again". They've asked for copies of the media in a few cases.
From our perspective, the IO is clean and the latency is well below what it needs to be. We see no errors. So I can't explain why it's failing.
