Re: Need advice on ideal setup for 2 Xserve RAIDs

I completely agree, these things are reaching their end of life. Just trying to find spare drives was a task in itself. We are discussing possible hardware upgrades in the next year or two but for the time being, they are functional and would like to have them running as optimally as possible.

I like the innerpool idea, too bad I have to buy a piece of hardware to make it work... would be great if there was a way to just use the #2 and #3 drive bays in the Xserve as the MetaData drives.

All in all though, I'm going to try that idea that you mapped out above. Seems like the best option. Would be reassuring to have hot spares in as well as my only spares are sitting on a shelf...
