Okay, well somewhat of a long day...

Wanted to just update the servers, but then wound up having to update all the clients as well - still doing that. My editors will be REALLY happy with me!

Looks like once you upgrade to what is effectively XSAN 2.3 (XSAN on OSX LION SERVER) you've got to upgrade all the clients, too. I really didn't understand this.

Anyhow, other than that, it is pretty cool. Oh, and that I thought I'd screwed the pooch one time when I went to do something in Lion and my whole desktop disappears...turns out that is a FEATURE of Lion. Ha.

All went smoothly. Upgrading each MDC takes about 1 hr or so. I rebuilt from the ground up because I'm so proud of my little maxdigital backup unit, but I don't think I had to.

Getting some weird messages now in my XSAN ADMIN window - for my backup MDC I'm getting "does not have a open directory replica" whatever that means, and on my clients "doesn't have correct search" something or other. I'm too exhausted to remember exactly but I'll dig in further tomorrow and relate as I quash these little incidents. Still, seems to be working, and after 5 years of xsaning I finally have a backup MDC, what a concept!

Thanks,
Max
