One additional consideration with the QLogic 1400 10 port models is that they only support one E-port per switch. See here under "Technical Specs":

This could potentially be a performance bottleneck.

The 5000 series QLogic switches can have multiple E-port links via XPAK (10Gb), or from the SFP (1/2/4Gb) ports.
