It is also important to note what formats you plan to work in. XSan doesn't scale bandwidth all that wonderfully, whereas Facilis excels at this. You get A LOT more bang for your buck in the bandwidth department with Facilis right out of the gate, and don't have to worry about things like fragmentation over time eating you SAN alive (cvfsck, anyone?).

Having admined both systems in production environments, I'd safely say Facilis is actually the better choice for 80% of the situations out there. There isn't anything wrong with XSan, but it takes a lot of time and even more money to get it to the same place a little 12 drive or 24 drive Facilis is at.
