". However, you've got to take some responsibility for the situation. First off, all hard drives fail... eventually. Knowing that, if you're doing time critical work, you should have planned to have a replacement drive sitting on the shelf. Don't start calling when you see a red light. Have the replacement ready, swap it out, then start calling about replacement parts...."

"... Venting about your situation here will do you no good."

Gee the man only waits a day and calls Apple for a replacement part that they say will be with him a day later. Who would go and buy another drive as you suggest?
Your suggestion is that as soon as their is a problem we "get" an extra drive.

And it *will* do him some good if readers are warned of this experience.

Are you saying that Apple drives are so unrelaible even from new that we should buy a spare to begin with?

If so how that is usefull advice.
