Maps not working properly...?
by Norman Greenwood on May 31, 2009 at 9:13:33 am

I am just starting out with 3ds Max 2010. I am using the material editor and have the library materials set to the 3ds Max preset.

When I go to grab a material I can see all the 3ds Max presets for metal, wood, etc. When I choose one and double-click, the wood sample (for example) appears in the diffuse map. But it also appears in the bump map...?

When I clear the bump map and try to select another map for it, none of the 3ds Max presets are there from the library materials. When I search to find the 3ds Max presets like I did before to get materials, they are no longer there...?

For the most part of my project this hasn't mattered too much. But I have come to an object that I need to have a different diffuse map than my bump map to get the right color and texture.

How can I correct this?

Thanks for the help.
