Making slime -particles and blobmesh

Hi,
I am trying to make the effect of slime dripping down some 3d text. My first instinct was to create a particle flow source that emits spheres and then to use blobmesh to create a skinned slime effect. I am trying to make my particles 'stick' to the 3D text geometry, and flow down them. I have tried using the collisions test in particle view, but I had no luck. I wanted to make a system that says 'when particle hits surface of text, it sticks to it and flows down'. My gravity is set up and working.. but Im having trouble making my particles stick to the surface. I tried collisions, but I had trouble.
I then tried using a Surface Constraint to stick the particle nodes to the text geometry surface ..but I found that the surface constraint only works with 'parametric surfaces', i.e. mathematical surfaces like sphere primitives or NURBS but not vertex based geometry.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
