fumefx problem

fumefx problem

I have just got hold of fumefx and i seem to have a very annoying problem. After rendering the example files I find they do not render the special fx. I then realised that i needed to do a simulation, however after running the simulation for 5 hours it tells me that another 20 hours are due before it finishes the simulation. Why does it take this long and is there another way to get the fx working without having to sit though 10 hours of simulation for a 7 second video?
