viewport changes to outlines when arc rotating

I know this is a retarded question and I'm the most loser of all beginners, but something got switched in my preferences or something because now when i arc rotate my viewports, my geometry turns into a square wireframe during the rotation and switches back to normal when im finished. I would like to be able to switch it back to how it was before it did that, but i dont know what the option is. Thank you anyone for your help, and I promise, someday I wont be so lame as I am now.
