I use the firestore with the geardear cage and have had no issues with connections coming undone or losing data. Then again, I mount my firestore to the camera itself (if using a tripod) or loop the firestore around my neck (still in the geardear cage) with a strong lanyard. I don't shoot very intricate things in terms of me running or moving really quickly, so all I can say is that this works for me with what I shoot. Agreed, if you move around a lot, another way of securing the cable may have to be used. I'm sure there's a Macgyver in someone to come up with an inexpensive method haha
