Gaffers tape, don't over think it, I do a right (or left) angle into the camera and tape that to the camera, then I do a cross strips to hold down the 6 pin into the FS.
FW ports are what they are, yes there are problems but they can work for many years. I still have drives that are over 5 years old, not use that often now. Key don't hot swap, camera and FS should be off before connecting.
