Try mounting it to a computer as you would when transferring files. If the computer does not "see" it then the firestore may have a problem. We had issues with one of our FS100s losing communication with the camera, (hdx900), intermittently and finally sent it back to Focus Enhancements. They replaced the firewire connectors and turned it around quickly. It works fine so far. We still always gaff tape the connectors on both ends. Firewire cables don't lock and are prone to slipping loose when you're moving the camera. Good Luck.
