I've had great luck using the Firestore FS-100 with my HDX900. All in all I love it, but it's touchy.

I just bought the 160GB version. Unfortunately the 160 breaks the drive into two partitions because of the limitations of FAT-32 addressing, but it's pretty painless, I've learned: The downside is that the drive only shows "time remaining" for the current partition, but once you get to the end of the first partition, "Disk 1", it automatically swaps over to the other partition, "Disk 2". On import into Final Cut, everything on the drive shows up in Final Cut's import tool ("log and transfer" or whatever it's called). So you don't have to do two separate imports from the two partitions.

Here's the deal on using the Firestore with the HDX900: When shooting in 1080, you get about 1 minute of shooting per GB of storage (about 108 minutes total for the 100GB model and 170 for the 160GB). But in 720, at 30p and 24p, you can sometimes set the Firestore to PN mode and get more recording time: 2 minutes of shooting per GB at 30p (approx 217 mins/340 mins total), and about 2.5 min per GB at 24p (approx 270 mins/432 mins total).

BUT you have to set up the HDX900 in a peculiar way so that the Firestore will recognize the flagged frames. And at 24p, you must record at FREE RUN TC. In 30p, I've had no problems in REC RUN or FREE RUN. Here's the settings, enjoy:

The settings have been confirmed for 720-30P/PN, 720-24P/PN, and 720-25P/PN. There is no
