Avid always has to convert a Quicktime to it's native OMFI before importing. This alone would stop me from using these Firestore Quicktime files. It can be a long import process and as you can see there can be trouble. Later versions of Avid can import the P2 media directly with the import P2 function. Unfortunately you don't get the nice import tools that FCP has.
