Internal mic on G4

Hi,

I am trying to record on garageband on my G4, using the internal mic. I get a ton of hissing and other nosies, I think because the mic picks up noises the computer mics such as hissing and humming.

I plan on using a proper mic (SM57?) with an interface, or the samson CO1U which has a built-in USB interface. Should the hissing noises be less with these than with the internal mic only?
