Latest music codecs

I'm buying music through itunes to edit the tracks in my family video with fcp. I'm finding out that most of these tracks are not compatible with fcp, believe the are some kind of mp4 with some kind of weird codec, but they are what they sell over itunes. Is there a way to convert all at once or buy them in a format that is editable?
