GB files in iTunes static-y

I recorded from a cassette tape deck into GB -- when I play the track in GB, it sounds great! When I export it to iTunes, it's static-y and reverberates.

My end goal is to burn the track onto a CD.

Why does the track sound different in iTunes and how can I fix it?
