Drag and drop the new footage over top of the old. It will retain all the formating/key frames so on... of the clip it's replacing.

Make sure you see a box appear around the lower (old) clip. If you see a line below or above the clip you want to replace, you will only add the new clip to the group, not replace the old clip.
