Yes, it is intermittent and yes, it looks like the pens that form the female connection have spread. Have you noticed the female BNC for the HD SDI is different than the other 5 BNC connectors? The component video BNCs, the video out and TC out BNCs are constructed using a plastic cylinder that surrounds the gold plated female connector and prevents this problem. The SDI BNC connector is missing this plastic cylinder.

In the case of the 2 cameras I had intermittent SDI issues with, neither had many hours of them and very few SDI uses, having always used component or composite field monitors when shooting.
