HDV to MP4
by don jangeman on Jul 3, 2009 at 4:14:51 pm

Hi all,

here's a friday afternoon dilemma on which I'd like some thoughts.

We need to convert HDV (1080i) to MP4 and it's suggested that it's best to

1) capture to Apple Intermediate Codec
2) play onscreen and grab the window in iShowU
3) 'cause it converts to MP4 on the fly...

Mmm. My mind screams No Way! How 'bout timecode? Non-square pixels? Interlacing? Realtime compression?

Quicktime Pro conversion takes some time, but I consider it much better quality.

Please can anyone help me on this one? thanks a lot already, and for now... Happy Weekend!

Don
