the key to your various questions is that seeing is believing.if progressive looks weird to you then it's weird. I doubt that premiere will change the quality when ingesting avi's but just do a test with 10 seconds of video and see for yourself. I'm in the NTSC world but love the Z7. it has some quirks but once you get used to it the seeing makes you a believer.
