Absolutely use the down converted SD image from the camera's firewire to a stand alone DVD burner. I do it on a weekly basis and it looks great. It also requires the least amount of work. Start the recording and walk away. It will also not tie up your computer so you can continue to edit and work on post.

I wish I was good at one thing rather than average at many, but oh well.
