Time Lapse

Hey guys,
Not sure this is the right forum area but im shooting on hdv so here we go.
I'm looking to film a time lapse of a drilling process. The process should last about 4 hours.
I want to know if any one had any recommendations of how to achieve this? I want the footage to look fairly smooth.
My first thought was use Adobe OnLocation and capture the whole process then just speed it all up in Premiere.
Or would it be better to use the interval record function on the camera?
I'm shooting on a z7.
Cheers
