It is an impressive camcorder! It has a mic input and headphone output, downconversion to DV, DV widescreen recording, and HDV 24f, which is Canon's version of 24p. In fact, I just used in in an operating room to get a closeup of knee surgery. The colors are vivid and accurate, and the sharpness in HDV is incredible. It also has USB, firewire, composite, component, and HDMI outputs! It also has color bars and zebra patterns, as well as an extensive menu (but not quite as extensive as an XH - A1).

Go to camcorderinfo and read the rave reviews. It is camcorder of the year for 2007.
