interlace problems

I looked through the archives & couldn't find any info on this.
I'm an HDV newbie, and have interlacing problems I can't figure out. I'm capturing into Final Cut 6 via firewire using the HDV1080i preset, and am rendering with ProRez. I exported using the high quality SD DVD preset in Compressor, and burnt to DVD in Studio Pro. The result was less than spectacular. There are a lot of interlacing lines on camera pans, especially when panning across vertical objects such as fence posts. I re exported the same clip and de interlaced in Compressor, but it didn't change much.
I would appreciate any input you may have. i'm going to re capture the same footage in SD & see what that looks like.
Lee
