Re: HDV cameras ?

I agree, I've been shooting a lot of video for a very long time,(3/4 inch in the early 80's) It's always good to try to match your camera choice with the job you need to produce. The Z1U is just one camera in my arsenal and I really like it. Recently I was in Mexico in the Sierra Madres shooting a practice helicopter rescue. The other camera was the Panasonic HVX200 the P2 camera. The editor intercut my Sony footage, shot with cinegamma and faux 24P at the HDV quality. I was blown away, I was amazed at how well it cut with the Panasonic 24P footage. I challenge anyone to watch the edited timeline and tell me which camera shots came from which camera. But don't ever think you can make up for bad or non existant lighting with new technology. A good story is a good story that is shot and edited well. Don't let over emphasis on tech specs get in the way of really knowing good production technique. Robert Rodriguez used to shoot his student films on a wind-up Bell and Howell film camera with no synch sound!
