We haven't had the exact same problem...but very similar. On occassion the camera would not power up...it would just give us a pretty LED light show. We would have to flip the power switch on and off a few times to get the camera functioning again. I sent it in to JVC for repair, they said it was the capacitor and replaced it. As soon as I got the camera back, I went out on a shoot, popped in a tape and the camera sounded like it was eating the tape and I got a head failure error. Called JVC, sent it back in...I'm still getting the pretty LED light show once in a while and when I play back footage in the camera that was shot on the camera, I get dropouts, digital artifacts, sometimes it doesn't record audio. So I'll be sending it in again...for the third time...and the camera is only a few months old. That's where I'm at thusfar...definitely understand your frustrations...JVC hasn't really taken ownership of the problem...they keep telling me that the camera is great and they rarely have problems and that maybe I need to take some training courses on how to use it. Nice, eh? Yes, please instruct me on powering on the unit. UGH.
