[kwshaw1] "... DV is now effectively obsolete, as is all SD video. ..."

Poppycock! There are thousands of folks who get paid to shoot DV today, and who will continue to do so for some time to come. Heck, lots of folks are still getting paid to shoot Betacam-SP and other "obsolete" video formats!

[kwshaw1] "... It's just a matter of time now before any serious videographer upgrades to HD."

Well, like, duh. However, "just a matter of time" is likely to be quite a bit longer than you seem to imply. Standard definition video will be shot and in use for at least a few years yet.

At this point in history, predicting the inevitability of high definition video is a bit silly. Most SD shooters and their clients are well aware of HD. We just don't have any need for HD now, at least not most of the time. As that changes, we'll change, too, but it doesn't mean we're not serious about video or good business people.

All the best,

- Peter
