Centering with Math?

Maybe there's a different way to do this than I'm thinking. I'm currently running a js code that essentially does what I was asking below. In the script it defines the X and Y positions for a div tag. I need the div tag to center but how can I do that based on the fact that the js creates the x/y rather than the CSS doc (which has a div centering code) Is there some way to say that my Xpos is 50% (screen width) subtract 50% of the div width? Here's the codes...
