"Transcode Red clips to 422 HQ , 444 does not seems to work with my imac system, whwn i transcode to 444 either in red cine and FC I get very dark color and high contrast videos
so, red to 422 clips, FCP 7 and then? I tried exporting with current setting, going to compressor, max quality DVD settings, the editing is only 2 minutes long and then DVDSP, so far every try with this has resulted in very washed out images and poor quality in the final DVD
"
How are you transcoding Red to ProRes 422? You encoding workflow is giving your Mac too much work, asking it to transcode a 422 reference movie to m2v.
Better, when done editing in FCP7, export a self-contained QT movie, and convert that to m2v in Compressor. Use CBR at around 7mbs to give you the best quality.
CinemaCraft will give you even better results, but it's expensive, and you have to learn much more about encoding.
Cheers
Alexander
